Jóia was a self-initiated project for one of my final briefs in university. I wanted to create a soft-drinks brand marketed to the UK that is based on guaraná, a fruit native to Brazil. The seed is used in a variety of products that has a stimulant property similar to that of in coffee or Coca-Cola. I explored many different ideas of logos, colour schemes and designs before landing on my final outcome.
I took the colours from the Brazilian flag and used a sans serif font as my logo, and took elements of Tropicalismo without being too cliché. Research I undertook from my dissertation surrounding the globalisation of Swiss Style, showed the movements in Brazil upon the introduction of modern graphic design such as concretismo.
